Lidl is a well-known discounter supermarket chain in Germany. These types of stores sell products at lower prices than other retail outlets and are therefore preferred by customers. Various types of goods are sold by discount retailers, not just food products. Lidl was one of the three most popular discounter supermarkets in Germany in 2021, sandwiched between Aldi and Netto. Over half of German consumers had done their shopping at Lidl in the last six months at the time of the survey. It is very common for customers to stick with their supermarket of choice on a long-term basis.
