Australia’s holiday season is not only a time of year when people nationwide can celebrate with their loved ones but also one of the most crucial trading periods for the country's retail sector, which recorded an annual turnover of over 400 billion Australian dollars in 2022. The holiday shopping period commences in November and runs until the end of December, with consumer spending rising during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and throughout the weeks leading up to Christmas and on Boxing Day. Nonetheless, retail spending during the 2023 November to Christmas trading period was forecast to only grow marginally from 2022, with many shoppers planning to spend the same as last year or rein in spending due to cost-of-living pressures and inflating prices.
