Shampoos, hair conditioners, hair masks, and scalp scrubs are only some of the products that make up the varied hair care market, a segment of the beauty industry that keeps on showing constant growth in revenues.
Indeed, the global hair care market value amounted to about 91.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2023 and is expected to grow to nearly 105 billion U.S. dollars by 2028. Hair care boasts one of the largest shares in the global beauty market, about 22 percent as of 2022, second only to the skin care segment. In the United States, forecasts show that revenues for hair care will increase up to 14.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2028.

American consumers spent about 86 U.S. dollars on hair care products in 2022, and shampoo was the most profitable hair care product that year, generating sales of approximately 3.6 billion U.S. dollars, followed by hair conditioner and hair coloring. The latter recorded sales of 172 million units in the women's hair coloring category that year. As more and more consumers become interested in products that defy hair loss and hair thinning, the hair growth category experienced an increase in both unit and dollar sales in the United States. In fact, as of 2022, dollar sales of hair growth products amounted to about 121 million U.S. dollars. This particular category includes various product types, ranging from oils, such as rosemary oil, to more common hair care items like shampoo and conditioner containing ingredients that are supposed to boost hair growth or prevent hair loss.
