China’s second-hand market has gone mainstream. A growing number of consumers, especially the younger generations, now prioritize use-value and sustainability over price-as-status. In 2024, the country’s second-hand online retail surpassed 645 billion yuan in transactions, with 660 million users and nearly 39 percent penetration. While various platforms have responded to this consumer trend, counterfeits and poor customer support remain the most typical complaints.
